Floral Foraging

Members of the HPGC raided their own gardens, and in some cases those of their neighbors, to forage plant material for table decor at the Joint Meeting February 25 at the Museum of Natural History. Thank you to all of you who dropped off the colorful blooms and rich greenery or loaned your Ball jars as vases.

Particular thanks to Marnie Owens who arranged the foraging event and allowed us to make a mess of her back patio. Also thanks to the team of seven who had a fun time arranging the centerpieces and lunching together: (left to right) Lisa Hutchins, Julie Grist, Patricia Lowry, Marnie Owens, Laura Dutton, Wendy Guzin and Carolyn Bennet. Foraging the plant material reduced the cost of purchasing flowers for the event and helped make it a more carbon-neutral event by not using flowers that were flown in from overseas. Plus, many members loved seeing their own blooms gracing the tables.
