Patagonia put out a short twenty minute film on recycling that we feel is worth the watch. While it is a bit promotional, it also shows how broken the recycling infrastructure is, and focuses on recycling of fabric and clothing materials. The big message is: reduce our consumption. Use things for a longer time. Think before you buy. Thanks to Carolyn Bennett for sharing it with the club. #Conservation #recycling

Club Kayaks LA River
On June 13th, seven members of the HPGC (and one son - Alex) paddled the 'lazy' Sepulveda Basin portion of the Los Angeles River organized by the Conservation committee. This is a natural bottom, non-concretized section near the Tillman Water Reclamation Plant and Lake Balboa, and quiet water compared to the Glendale Narrows section kayaked by the club a few years ago. Conservation Crew in the Ballona Wetlands
On a sunny but cool Saturday morning in late February found members of the HPGC removing non-native plants from the dunes at the Ballona wetlands. Plastic Ocean
Friday night, January 26, 14 members of the HPGC and guests gathered at the home of Nancy Ziehl to watch the movie A Plastic Ocean. The Conservation Committee has been highlighting waste and water issues this year, echoing concerns of the NGA, as seen in the Winter edition of the Bulletin.
